“Spiritus” Ventilator Unit

The Interdisciplinary Team at Polaris is comprised of respiratory therapists, nurses, physicians and identified specialists who determine a resident’s capacity for ventilator weaning and rehabilitation services. They develop individualized care plans to reach the desired outcomes and improve the overall quality of life for each resident.

The Ventilator Unit is called “Spiritus”, which is the Latin word for “spirit” or “breathing”. In this specially designed unit, medically complex respiratory residents receive services that include ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, and tracheostomy care in a safe and comfortable environment. The unique design of this unit enables staff to safely and effectively monitor and interact with all residents.
